Παρουσιάζεται η εικόνα του αρχαγγέλου Μιχαήλ, με δώδεκα σκηνές στο πλαίσιο, που εντοπίστηκε στην Καλαμάτα (Εφορεία Βυζαντινών Αρχαιοτήτων) και αποδίδεται στον Γεώργιο Κλόντζα. Εξετάζεται η εικονογραφία του όρθιου αρχαγγέλου, που πατάει επάνω σε σαρκοφάγο με νεκρή γυναίκα, καθώς και οι σκηνές του σπάνιου κύκλου του αρχαγγέλου. Εντοπίζονται οι πηγές της εικονογραφίας σε δυτικές χαλκογραφίες και οι ομοιότητες με γνωστά εικονογραφημένα χειρόγραφα του ζωγράφου.

This paper discusses an icon of Archangel Michael with twelve scenes on the frame, located in Kalamata (Ephorate of Byzantine Antiquities) and attributed to Georgios Klontzas. The iconography of the standing archangel stepping upon a sarcophagus containing a dead female, and the scenes of the rare cycle of the archangel are examined. The sources of the iconography in Western engravings and the similarities to known illuminated manuscripts by the painter are identified.
