Résumé En

This article examines how involvement in animal rights draws activists to deal with the law in very different ways. Their relationship to the law depends both on pre-existing sensibilities and on the practices that distinguish different types of animal rights activism. Far from being devoid of affective dimensions, use of the law requires a formalization of emotions in order to legitimate grievances in the public space. Thus, juridicization greatly facilitates the access of animal rights activists to political and administrative institutions.
