L’article revient, dans un premier temps, aux fondements grecs de la notion de kairόs, afin de lui rendre toute sa richesse polysémique et son épaisseur conceptuelle et d’en mettre en évidence les arrières plans ontologiques. Il s’intéresse ensuite à la façon dont cette notion a été introduite dans le champ psychothérapeutique et dans le corpus jungien, et dont elle se différencie de la synchronicité. Tout au long de ce cheminement, c’est un regard d’analyste qui est porté sur l’activité et le processus analytiques. Sont ainsi interrogées nos représentations de la nature du changement et leur influence sur notre façon d’agir, jusqu’à tenter d’en proposer une appréhension au plus proche de ce qui est vécu en analyse.

The first part of the article reviews the Greek roots of the concept of kairόs, in order to render it in all of its polysemic wealth and conceptual depth, and to demonstrate its ontological background. Next, the author examines the way this idea was introduced in the psychotherapeutic field and into Jung’s writings, and its differentiation from synchronicity. Throughout the course of this reflection, an analyst considers analytical activity and process. Hence our representations of the nature of change and their influence on our behavior are questioned, leading to an attempt to suggest an even firmer grasp of what happens in an analysis.
