Michel Lallement, « Lógica de class y distinctión social », HAL-SHS : sociologie, ID : 10670/1.i3mj0o
Two kinds of conditions, both external and internal, impact the way sociological theories are constructed. The work of Edmond Goblot (1858-1935) can be interpreted from this perspective. This French philosopher is known for his book La barrière et le niveau (1925), which has become a standard reference for the sociology of social classes. This theory was based on the bourgeois milieu in which Goblot lived, but it is also internally shaped by a logic of relations, enabling one to read the book as an exercise in logic.
