Résumé
Two letters exchanged in March 1948 between Claude Schaeffer (1898-1982) and Vere Gordon Childe (1892-1957), curated by the Fonds Schaeffer at the Collège de France, are commented. In light of other epistolary documents, this file illustrates different aspects of Claude Shaeffer's activities as archaeologist, orientalist and museologist. It underlines his investment in numerous fields: archaeology of western Asia, heritage preservation, organization of French archaeological research abroad, as well as dissemination of research findings and knowledge.
