Résumé 0

This article sets out an initial succinct overview of research underway concerning the persecution of the Jews in the region of Liège (Belgium) during the Second World War, focusing especially on the years 1940-1942. Thierry Rozenblum has placed a particular emphasis on the respective roles played by the city administration authorities in Liège on the one hand, and by the local committee of the Jewish Association in Belgium on the other, in respect of the application of anti-Jewish edicts promulgated by the Germans. This research is not to be seen only as a reconstruction of the history of the Jews. It is quite clear that this history must be placed in its proper context, by showing certain aspects of the workings of the deportation mechanisms and in particular the involvement of forces which never actually adhered to Nazi ideology.
