The suburb has given rise to several images over a period of time. Today, social housing estates suffer from a negative image and their inhabitants from socioeconomic and territorial exclusion. The exploitation by the médias of recent urban explosions has had effects on social contacts and on the construction of identities. La banlieue a été le support de plusieurs images dans le temps. Aujourd'hui les quartiers d'habitat social souffrent d'une image négative et leurs habitants d'une exclusion socio-économique et territoriale. L'exploitation médiatique des récentes explosions urbaines a eu des effets sur les rapports sociaux et sur les constructions d'identités. L'appartenance à un territoire et à une communauté influe sur les différentes stratégies identitaires.
