Based on the book entitled La Visite by the visual artist Alexandre-Takuya Katô, this article aims to examine the forms of spatiality specific to the apparatus. To do this, it explores the tokonoma, an alcove in the traditional Japanese house designed to house works of art. This makes it possible to articulate apparatus, narratives, and spatiality. The analytical framework is borrowed from Jacques Derrida’s conception of writing and of différance.

À partir d’un livre, La Visite , écrit par le plasticien Alexandre-Takuya Katô, l’article entend interroger, à partir de l’exemple du tokonoma (une alcôve de la maison japonaise traditionnelle destinée à abriter des œuvres d’art), les formes de spatialité propres aux dispositifs en usage dans les arts plastiques dont le tokonoma est un emblème. Cette démarche permet d’articuler dispositif, récit et spatialité. Pour mener à bien l’analyse, le cadre analytique est emprunté à l’écriture – et donc à la différance – telle que Jacques Derrida l’a définie.
