Pourquoi dire « empowerment » quand on parle français ?
Citizenship or empowerment: “another effort”?Why do we use the word “empowerment” when we speak French? It is difficult to translate this concept into a single word, the resistance of this “untranslatable” word is analyzed here as an indication, even a symptom, of both a political philosophical issue (a certain difficulty in thinking about domination?), and an epistemological issue (Is it a return to the repressed complexities of scholarly discourse?).This analysis may then make it possible to associate two ongoing movements in mental health and make them to a certain extent more clearer: the empowerment of “users”, not only beyond “citizenship”, but also the emergence of experiential knowledge, beyond that of “learned” knowledge.
