Ce texte présente le récit d’un voyage à Riga entrepris en 1986 par une Allemande née en 1903 au sein de la minorité germanophone de Lettonie et ayant participé à la migration massive de cette minorité vers l’Allemagne en 1939. L’extrait choisi permet d’illustrer un type de tourisme mémoriel postmigratoire spécifique aux “expulsés” allemands : le Heimatreise (littéralement voyage vers la terre natale).

This text presents the story of a travel to Riga undertaken in 1986 by a German woman born in 1903 in the German-speaking minority in Latvia and who participated in the massive migration of this minority to Germany in 1939. The excerpt chosen exemplifies a type of post-migratory memorial tourism specific to the so-called German “expellees”: the Heimatreise (literally travel to the homeland).
