In this contribution, I consider three models of articulation between still image and speed during the 20th century. I first propose to return to the futurist approach, because it is, in the history of modernity, the first to identify a new aesthetic challenge in speed and in the transformation of reality into a simple vanishing plane for the gaze. I then consider two later formulations of the aesthetics of speed, informal painting and op’art, for their intention to renew the whole vision by extending and intensifying its capabilities.

Dans cette contribution, je considère trois modèles d’articulation entre image fixe et vitesse au cours du XXe siècle. Je propose tout d’abord de revenir à l’approche futuriste, car elle est, dans l’histoire de la modernité, la première à identifier un nouvel enjeu esthétique dans la vitesse et dans la transformation du réel en un simple plan de fuite pour le regard. J’envisage ensuite deux formulations ultérieures de l’esthétique de la vitesse, la peinture informelle et l’op’art, pour leur intention de renouveler intégralement la vision en étendant et intensifiant ses capacités.
