It reviews the great structuralchanges in output and employmentover recent decades and how macroeconomicpolicies can strengthen orweaken the natural forces underlyingthese changes. It distinguishesbetween potentially inflationary policiesdesigned to increase demand ina monetary sense, and those that focuson institutional changes that enhancecompetition and mobility.
