Représenter la figure du mandala à l'ère contemporaine interroge sa pérennité. En effet, les mandalas perdurent, plastiquement, de manière paradoxale ; ils sont en effet initialement voués à la destruction. Aussi, nous interrogerons les espaces contemporains au sein desquels le mandala a été mis à l'honneur, et tenterons de comprendre en quoi il y a trouvé ou non une place légitime. Tout d'abord, les expositions dans les espaces muséaux ont permis la visibilité du mandala dans l'espace artistique contemporain. Comment comprendre alors l'essence du mandala dans un lieu ignorant son rituel initiatique ? Puis, nous verrons la recherche de recréation d'un espace propre à la sacralité du mandala, qui permet au visiteur une tout autre approche, elle-même tentative de légitimation d'exposition de mandalas.
