Résumé En

An important challenge in the study of speechproduction is to gain theoretical understanding ofhow laryngeal and supralaryngeal movements arecoordinated, and to determine which factorsinfluence this coordination. This study investigateshow these movements are coordinated during theproduction of completely voiceless words andsentences in Tashlhiyt Berber. Results show thatthe glottis does not simply remain open but thatglottal aperture is continuously modulated in amanner that can be related quite systematically tothe phonetic nature of the segments present in thesequence.
