Enduits peints et éléments de décor architectural mis au jour dans la maison romaine du Nord de la colline de Fabrika à Nea Paphos (Mission archéologique française à Paphos/MafaP)

Walls of 4 spatial units of the southern wing of a building, dated to 1st–2nd century AD, situated on northern slope of Fabrika hill bear scant remains of painted decoration. The building seems to have surrounded court unit 7, at its west opened by landslide on room 3, walls of which have been embellished by painted plaster preserved best in southwestern corner. During first two phases of existence the house was decorated by painted plaster, while to last phase belong elements of architectural decoration, probably of the courtyard. Numerous painted fragments were found in the fill of 5 spatial units, 4 of which were painted delimiting imitated zones with frames of red narrow bands sometimes with parallel greyish bands, recalling Masonry Styles. Within field thus created motif of scape with volutes occurred in one room. Other type of decoration occurs in other room with alternating panels of two sizes and differing colours with green frames and white border lines. Fragments, probably from panel central parts, found detached, show imitation of breccia or alabaster. Architectural decoration elements were found in 4 rooms and it was not possible to reconstruct decoration programme or even decide if those pieces belonged to the excavated house. Two groups of elements were found–free standing supports (5 pieces) and engaged elements of pilasters and entablature (7 pieces).
