Résumé En

A sermon of Federico Franconi OP comparing Charles I, Charles Π and Robert of Anjou leads to examination of Angevin ruler iconography and the relationship between Arnolfo's Charles d'Anjou with sculpture at Leon, Capua, Strasbourg and St. Denis. Coin portraits of Frederick Π and Charles are then compared. The Angevin rôle in the spread of the cult and iconography of Mary Magdalen in Italy is traced. Finally the iconography of Simone Martini's Si. Louis of Toulouse and its ostentatious heraldry is discussed, as, finally, is the tomb programme of Robert I and its relationship to the tomb of Boniface VIII in old Saint Peter's.
