Dans un premier temps, l’auteure décrit quelques problèmes posés par l’application de la notion d’après-coup en psychanalyse et psychothérapie d’enfants. Ensuite, s’appuyant sur la description détaillée d’une psychothérapie d’enfant, elle pose deux questions : l’après-coup porte-il uniquement sur les représentations, sur l’aspect le plus évolué et symbolisé du monde interne qui est le verbal ? Ou bien, est-il possible de penser que la capacité transformatrice de l’après-coup s’étende également aux aspects plus profondément inscrits dans la personnalité, aux déformations défensives du moi de nature non verbale qui prennent corps, elles, plutôt au niveau des processus dans la cure ?

The author describes, firstly, some of the problems arising from the application of the notion of « après-coup » (deferred action) in the psychoanalysis and the psychotherapy of children. She then goes on to discuss two questions based on a detailed description of the psychotherapy of a child : does deferred action relate solely to representations, that is, to the most evolved and symbolised aspects of the internal world, which are verbal ? Or else is it possible to think that the transformational capacity of deferred action extends equally to more deeply rooted aspects of the personality, to non-verbal defensive alterations ot the ego that take shape rather at the gage of processes involved during the cure ?
