In the 21st century, populism of both the right and the left seems to attract a growing number of voters in Europe. With a result below the 5% threshold, the left-wing party could have had no parliamentary group in the Bundestag in 2021. In addition to a scandal surrounding sexist abuses, the party leadership is in open conflict with the very popular anti-capitalist Sahra Wagenknecht, who has advocated an anti-immigration since 2015 and newly a pro-Russian policy. The party is losing points and members, and observers will be watching the results of the upcoming Landtage elections.

Au XXIe siècle, populisme de droite comme de gauche semblent attirer un nombre croissant d’électeurs en Europe. Avec un résultat inférieur au seuil des 5 %, le parti de gauche aurait pu ne pas avoir de groupe parlementaire au Bundestag en 2021. Outre un scandale autour de dérives sexistes, la direction du parti est en conflit ouvert avec la très populaire députée Sahra Wagenknecht de la mouvance anticapitaliste qui prône depuis 2015 une politique anti-immigration et nouvellement pro-russe. Le parti perd des points, des adhérents et les observateurs vont scruter les résultats de prochaines élections aux Landtage.
