Cet article présente le profil des musées universitaires à partir de leurs trois fonctions fondamentales : l'enseignement, la recherche et la vulgarisation. Il défend que ces musées ont des caractéristiques transnationales et ont un rôle important dans l'inclusion sociale, en collaborant à la formation de nouveaux professionnels pour les institutions muséologiques, à l'identification de la diversité de leurs publics à partir de la recherche systématique et avec l'introduction de la pédagogie muséologique à l’Université. Il est organisé en deux parties : (1) les musées universitaires et le contexte brésilien : brèves considérations et singularités, et (2) musées universitaires et inclusion sociale : quelques expériences du MAE/USP.

This article presents the profile of university museums as from their three basic fonctions: teaching, research and extension. It defends that those museums have transnational characteristics and have a strong role in social inclusion, collaborating with the formation of new professionals for the museological institutions, with the identification of the diversity of their publics from systematic research and with the introduction of museological pedagogy at the university. It is organised in two topics: (1) the university museums and the Brazilian context: brief considerations and singularities, and (2) University museums and social inclusion: some experiences of the MAE/USP.
