The mirror medium is very present in contemporary art, less as a faithful reflection of appearances, but rather as a critique of our society dominated by the tyranny of the visible, "presentism" (François Hartog), and "transparency" (Byung-Chul Han). By integrating the viewer into the work - thereby blurring the boundaries between reality and fiction - the artist deconstructs the traditional metaphor of the mirror as a simple receptacle of reality. Through the play of reflection, the mirror transforms the viewer into an artistic subject, exposed to all eyes. Michelangelo Pistoletto, Dan Graham, Camilo Matiz Camilo Matiz create sculptures and installations that invert our gaze and deconstruct our sensory habits. The aim here is to study the various forms of specular reversal that contribute to the deconditioning of vision, while giving us food for thought about our coexistence with the Other.

Le miroir médium est très présent dans l’art contemporain, moins comme reflet fidèle des apparences, mais plutôt comme critique de notre société dominée par la tyrannie du visible, du « présentisme » (François Hartog), et de la « transparence » (Byung-Chul Han). En intégrant le spectateur à l’oeuvre – ce qui brouille les frontières entre réalité et fiction –, l’artiste déconstruit la traditionnelle métaphore du miroir comme simple réceptacle du réel. Par le jeu du reflet, le miroir transforme le regardeur en sujet artistique, exposé à tous les regards.
