Résumé
ONE and YOU are often referred to as belonging to two different levels of speech. A close examination of our corpus has led us to believe that things are not so clearcut and that the actual difference is to be found on the linguistic level. Though ONE and YOU both reveal a lack of qualitative delimitation of the notion of human being, the use of ONE implies some identification with a particular person, whereas YOU takes into account a basic otherness, a qualitative difference with the person concerned in the situation.
