"Agricultural research institutions in most of developing countries operate with limited budgets, facing situations of sub utilization of human resources. Government economic policies appliedby these countries have lead to austerity in public budgets affecting investments in science andtechnology. In the other hand, there are private firms that require technology innovations tomaintain and improve their competitive position in the market, have economic resources butlack of qualified human resources to develop the needed technology. In this paper are presentedthree cases where a public research institution, The National Institute of Forestry, Agriculturaland Livestock Research (INIFAP) works in partnership with private firms like NESTLÉ, theIndustria maltera and the Industria del Aceite, to respond to their technological demands, resulting in partnerships where everybody takes advantage of the association."
