Geneviève Girard-Gillet, « Infinitival TO as a cohesion marker », HAL-SHS : linguistique, ID : 10670/1.mqe8sr
When analysing infinitival clauses, we do not generally consider that they play a role in the cohesive dimension of the text. The article argues that it could be the case, in some contexts, and analyses the temporal semantic cohesion within complex sentences, the infinitive as the complement to "want-type" verbs and "believe-type" verbs, as well as their anaphoric role when as subject to a matrix verb, they pick up already given information, a fact already analysed by P.Miller 1999.
