François Wisard, « I.4. Les recherches officielles sur la Suisse et la Seconde Guerre mondiale : du rapport Ludwig (1957) au rapport Bergier (2002) », Revue d’Histoire de la Shoah, ID : 10670/1.mr8azv
The three “official” reports on Switzerland’s role during WWII and its reactions to Nazism made waves at the time of their publication and left an impact on future generations. The Ludwig Report (1957) examined Switzerland’s policy towards refugees from 1933 to 1945, the Bonjour Report (1970) looked at the country’s policy of neutrality, and the Bergier Report (2002) explored over twenty topics related to Switzerland’s stance regarding Nazism and the war. The article lays out the origins of each of these three reports and the main debates that led to their findings, as well as the mandates that the government gave to their authors. This long-term approach underscores the fact that doubts regarding the attitude of Switzerland and its people towards WWII and the Holocaust have deep roots that resurface regularly.
