In the present article, the author analyzes the way the author of Corpus Priapeorum has enriched his texts, both stylistically and thematically, through the productive device of intertextuality, focussing specifically on the work of Catullus. The references to Catullan contexts give way to a wide range of suggestions conveyed to the reader, the most evident of which is humour through parody. By commenting on selected examples, the author has thereby grouped the different methods of appropriation of Catullan texts in: 1. isolated echoes, 2. poems with thematic resemblance and lexical echoes and 3. allusion as “explanation” (Aufschluß) of the poem. Following in the footsteps of other great poets whom we use to include in the Latin literary canon, the anonymous author of priapea also reuses Catullus’s texts, giving them a new meaning and taking advantage of the potentialities of its original contexts.

Dans cet article, l’auteur analyse la manière dont l’auteur des Priapées enrichit ses textes, stylistiquement et thématiquement, à travers le procédé fécond de l’intertextualité et, plus précisément, avec l’œuvre de Catulle. Les évocations à des contextes catulliens permettent qu’une grande gamme de suggestions soit transmise au lecteur, y compris l’effet le plus évident : l’humour par la parodie. S’appuyant sur le commentaire de quelques exemples, l’auteur classifie, ainsi, les différentes méthodes d’appropriation du texte catullien : 1. échos isolés, 2. poèmes avec un thème semblable et des échos lexicaux, 3. l’allusion comme « explication » (Aufschluß) du poème. Tout comme le font les autres grands poètes appartenant au canon littéraire latin, l’auteur anonyme des priapées réutilise, lui aussi, les textes de Catulle, mais, profitant des potentialités, il leur donne une nouvelle signification.
