À partir des réflexions fondatrices de Simmel sur la fin du conflit, cette contribution explore l’articulation, au lendemain d’une guerre civile marquée par des massacres de masse, entre l’objectif de réconciliation et les processus de négociation ou de médiation post-conflit. Trois modèles d’articulation sont identifiés. De ce point de vue est ensuite analysé un processus de facilitation post-conflit inspiré des travaux de Burton et animé par les auteurs et leur équipe depuis 2003 au Burundi puis en R. D. Congo. Trois principes inhérents à ce dispositif semblent vecteurs de réconciliation. Enfin, une grille comportant huit niveaux d’analyse est proposée pour analyser l’impact, en termes de réconciliation, de ce processus – lequel est susceptible de transposition sur d’autres théâtres post-conflits.

Building on Simmel’s seminal reflections on the end of conflict, this contribution explores the articulation, in the wake of a civil war characterized by mass crimes, of reconciliation and negotiation or mediation efforts. Three articulation models are proposed. From this viewpoint is then analysed a post-conflict facilitation process inspired by Burton’s works and which is delivered by the authors and their team since 2003 in Burundi and then in D. R. Congo. Three key principles structuring this process seem to encourage reconciliation. Last, an eight-level analysis grid is proposed to evaluate the impact, in terms of reconciliation, of this process – which is likely to be transposed to other post-conflict situations.
