A new cricket of the genus Platygryllus from Eastern Morocco (Orthoptera, Gryllidae). A new species of cricket is described from Morocco : Platygryllus xanthocercus n. sp. The synonymy between the genera Grylloderes Bolívar, 1894, and Platygryllus Chopard, 1961, is revised. Previous taxonomic analysis of these genera appears flawed ; the genus Platygryllus is removed from synonymy, resulting in the following combinations among the species previously included in the genus Grylloderes : Platygryllus quadristrigatus (Saussure, 1877), comb. rev., P. arambourgi (Chopard, 1938), comb. rev., P. atritus Otte & Cade, 1984, comb. rev., P. capensis Otte & Cade, 1984, comb. rev., P. cockbilli (Chopard, 1954), comb. rev., P. ignobilis (Walker, 1869), comb. rev., P. maurus (Afzelius & Brannius, 1804), comb. rev., P. primiformis Otte & Cade, 1984, comb. rev., P. serengeticus Otte & Cade, 1984, comb. rev., P. congolensis Gorochov, 1984, comb. rev., P. longus (Gorochov, 1988), n. comb., P. olsufievi (Gorochov, 1988), n. comb., P. orlovskajae (Gorochov, 1988), n. comb., P. ovum (Gorochov, 1988), n. comb. and P. satunini (Gorochov, 1988), n. comb. Five species could not be studied in this work and should be placed in the genus Platygryllus while waiting for further study : Platygryllus atratulus (Walker, 1869), comb. rev., P. melanocephalus (Audinet-Serville, 1838), comb. rev., P. nefandus (Kirby, 1906), n. comb., P. subalatus (Chopard, 1951), n. comb. and P. sudanus (Gorochov, 1988), n. comb. A differential diagnosis is provided to compare Platygryllus maurus (Afzelius & Brannius, 1804), P. satunini (Gorochov, 1988) and P. xanthocercus n. sp. Lastly, some considerations regarding the presence of the genus in North Africa (new record for Morocco), are given. Although difficult to substantiate, this presence could result from a past distribution of the genus on both sides of the Sahara.

Une espèce nouvelle de Grillon est décrite du Maroc : Platygryllus xanthocercus n. sp. La synonymie entre les genres Grylloderes Bolívar, 1894, et Platygryllus Chopard, 1961, a été revue. Cinq espèces n’ont pu être étudiées dans ce travail et peuvent être rangées provisoirement dans le genre Platygryllus en attendant un complément d’étude : Platygryllus atratulus (Walker, 1869), comb. rev., P. melanocephalus (Audinet-Serville, 1838), comb. rev., P. nefandus (Kirby, 1906), n. comb., P. subalatus (Chopard, 1951), n. comb. et P. sudanus (Gorochov, 1988), n. comb. Une diagnose différentielle permet ensuite de comparer Platygryllus maurus (Afzelius & Brannius, 1804), P. satunini (Gorochov, 1988) et P. xanthocercus n. sp. Enfin, quelques considérations sur la présence de ce genre en Afrique du Nord, nouveau pour le Maroc, sont ajoutées : d’interprétation délicate, celle-ci laisse supposer une répartition ancienne du genre, de part et d’autre du Sahara.
