After the Second World War, Alfred Fabre-Luce converted to the European idea and to liberalism. From his Vichy past, he retained a certain aversion for the Jews. Disseminated until then by small touches in a prolix work, it spread in 1979 in a work which caused controversy when it was published: Pour en finir avec l’antisémitisme. But far from being only the final burst of a sad passion, the book set the axes of an anti-Semitism not assumed by the author: competition of the victims, victim posture, “secondary” anti-Semitism. Exasperated by the paradigm shift concerning the Vichy régime which was then taking place in both historiography and public opinion, he could not conceive of the Jews being able to succeed in certain memorial claims without necessarily attributing them to their occult influence and their group solidarity.
