In the following study, Hassan Givsan carries on his reflection on the effect of World War I on (German) philosophy, and focuses more precisely on the question of death. Lead by his concern with showing the relation between positivism – for which death is only a biological matter – and the mythology of death serving the community of warriors, he starts out with a criticism of contemporary philosophers (most of them post-Heideggerian and Positivists altogether) and their stance towards death. Then he goes back to the topic of the involvement of the intellectuals in the unconditional mobilization for the total war. On this background, he analyzes and criticizes the Heideggerian mythology of death and of community understood as an organic totality born in the fire-ordeal – which is the real meaning of Dasein, understood as “becoming of the community, of the people [ Geschehen der Gemeinschaft, des Volkes]” by Heidegger.
