Olivier Compagnon et al., « Towards a cultural history of the Popular unity », HAL-SHS : histoire, ID : 10.5433/1984-3356
Despite the abundant historiography on the Unidad Popular, it has been approached mainly from the perspective of political history and international relations. Relatively few works have approached the so-called “Chilean road to socialism” from the perspective of cultural history. A social history of the cultural representations and practices of this crucial period of the Cold War in Latin America would allow for a more profound study of issues such as the democratization of cultural institutions during the Allende government, the militant cultural and artistic initiatives that emerged among the groups that supported it, the numerous transnational cultural relations that developed at the time, and the role played by the mass media.
