Embarqués, nous le sommes tous par quelques signifiants, par la langue, par le symptôme. S’emparer du nom de Lacan, réduit à un adjectif qualificatif, qualifiant imaginaire qui fait groupe(s) et histoire(s), référent symbolique qui inscrit savoir, autorité et filiation, c’est aussi réaffirmer l’intrication mœbienne entre le public, la société du spectacle, et le privé du trajet singulier (ces « Umwege », détours chers à Freud), autrement dit le transfert propre à chacun et son passage singulier à la fonction d’analyste. La polyphonie de l’adjectif « lacanien » nous mène ainsi de la prestance narcissique au collectif impossible, des choix théoriques à la transmission, de la question du Un religieux aux multiples interprétations. Loin d’en faire l’index d’une appartenance sacrée, ce mot vient dire le mouvement de transmission à l’œuvre et la question théorique fondamentale qui le soutient : celle du sujet dans ses rapports au signifiant et à la lettre.

We are all on board, embarked by certain signifiers, by language, by the symptom. To appropriate the name of Lacan, reduced to an adjective, a qualifying imaginary that makes a group(s) and history(ies), a symbolic reference inscribing knowledge, authority and filiation, is to also re-affirm the moebian intricacy between the public, the society on display, and the private of a singular path (the “ Umwege”, the detours dear to Freud). It is in other words the transference, specific to everyone and his particular passage to the function of analyst. The polyphony of the adjective “Lacanian” thus leads us from narcissistic presence to the impossible collective, from theoretical choices to transmission, from the question of the One religious to multiple interpretations. Far from being the index of a sacred membership, this word speaks of the movement of the transmission at stake and the fundamental theoretical question it sustains: that of the subject in its relation to the signifier and the letter.Starting from what henceforth can be the name of Lacan, the author proposes a certain number of formulations –to pass from the fear of calling oneself Lacanian to a rightful concern or uneasiness about being or saying “not without Lacan”.
