Résumé 0

"Wood anatomy of the genus Buddleja was studied to gain insightabout its relationship with habit and latitude. Habit waspositively associated with most characteristics, showing thehighest correlation coefficients with vessel element length andfibre length. Four features were negatively correlated with latitude, confirming observations for other taxa and only ray widthwas positively correlated. Wood has a discrete variation amonghabit categories as revealed by canonical discriminant analysis. Moreover, variance analysis confirmed significant differences infibre length and vessel element length between species that aresmall shrubs and trees taller than 10m. These results suggestthat Buddleja species growing in harsher environments, as thesmall shrubs, show less variation in wood cell size, while speciesgrowing in more diverse environments may have more diversehabits and consequently greater wood cell size variation."
