"Rotator cuff disease, among others damageof the supraspinatus tendon mainly caused bywork overload, is a common problem in the populationresulting in a high incidence of sick leaves.In the present survey we sought to compare theneed for sick leaves in relation to different stagesof supraspinatus tendon affection and in relationto five different groups of workers. Our studycounted with the participation of patients whowere diagnosed with this condition. The individualswere grouped according to stages of the disease(tendonitis, partial rupture, total rupture)and according to the biomechanical aspects oftheir occupation (general services, civil construction,domestic workers, farm workers and securityguard services). Statistical analysis was performedusing Pearson’s chi-square test, dependenceanalysis and exact test. Results revealed that 62(55%) of the individuals were on sick leave. Thehighest rates of sick leaves according to Pearson’stest occurred in the groups general services(38,71%) and farm workers (22,58%). Accordingto the dependence analysis, tendonitis (p
