Disparus, mort négligée et rituels en Argentine. De la quête à l’exhumation des corps

Dans cet article, je vais parler de l’expérience de deux groupes de parents de disparus durant la dernière dictature militaire en Argentine (1976-1982), en m’intéressant à la problématique de la mort en contexte de mort violente, à l’absence de corps et à l’impact des exhumations et des identifications réalisées par l’équipe médico-légale argentine d’anthropologie (EAAF) à un niveau personnel et collectif. D’une part, nous verrons comment à travers un répertoire symbolique, les familles de victimes tissent un type particulier de relation avec leurs proches, donnent sens à l’histoire récente et se considèrent comme membres d’un groupe social particulier. D’autre part, nous verrons comment l’absence de corps et le cadre d’interprétation symbolique produisent une confrontation avec la mort que j’appelle la mort négligée, laquelle peut être transformée à travers l’exhumation et l’identification du corps.

Disappeared, unattended death and rituals in Argentina. From the search to the exhumation of bodiesIn this paper I will talk about the experience of two groups of relatives of disappeared of the last military dictatorship in Argentina (1976-1982) focusing on the problem of death in the context of violent death and absence of bodies and the repercussions of the exhumations and identifications made by the Argentine Forensic Anthropology Team (EAAF), at personal and group level. On the one hand, we will see how, through a symbolic repertoire, family members symbolize a specific type of relationship with their loved ones, give meaning to recent history and identify themselves as members of a particular social group. On the other hand, we will see how, the lack of the body and the symbolic framework of interpretation, produce a confrontation with death that I call ‘unattended death’, which can be reconverted, through the exhumation and identification of the body.

En este trabajo voy hablar de la experiencia de dos grupos de familiares de desaparecidos de la última dictadura militar en Argentina (1976-1982) focalizando sobre la problemática de la muerte en el contexto de muerte violenta y ausencia de los cuerpos y en las repercusiones de las exhumaciones e identificaciones realizadas por el Equipo Argentino de Antropología Forense (EAAF), a nivel personal y grupal. Por un lado, veremos cómo a través de un repertorio simbólico, los familiares simbolizan un tipo de relación específica con sus seres queridos, dan sentido a la historia reciente y se identifican entre sí como miembros de un grupo social determinado. Por otro lado, veremos cómo, la falta del cuerpo y el marco simbólico de interpretación, producen un enfrentamiento a la muerte que denomino muerte desatendida, la cual puede ser reconvertida, a través de la exhumación e identificación del cuerpo.
