"The paper presents a discussion aboutthe experience of building a risk map by workersin a public hospital, in Rio de Janeiro city, restingon concepts of occupational health surveillance,total quality and biosafety. It goes from the firststep to persuade the workers and managers, toidentify the potential sources of risk in the workenvironment, the elaboration of the map, untilthe discussion about the preventive measures andthe presentation of the results by the workers at ascientific meeting in the hospital. The elaborationof the risk map acted as a learning opportunity tosocialize concepts in the work health area, to integrateworkers, to systematize the work process andto discuss work organization, having practicalconsequences which have furthered changes in theworking environment."
