Rodrigo González Quintero, « Judicial review in the Republic of Korea: an introduction », Revista de Derecho, ID : 10670/1.pacp30
"In the Republic of Korea, after almost forty years of constitutional provisions concerning judicial review, the 1987 Constitution created an effective system of judicial review powers vested on the Constitutional Court. Besides the assessment of the legislation's constitutionality, the Court has power to decide upon the dissolution of political parties, impeachment cases, conflicts of competence, and constitutional complaints. These powers have given the Court a special status within the South Korean democratic system, enabling it to expand the meaning of the Constitution, and extending its protection over the citizens' daily life."
