"The present state of animal psychology is studíed, with specialemphasis on its methodology. Laboratory research is considered moreappropiate than naturalistic observation. A review is presented of thephilogenesis of the nervous system, the increasing complexity of perceptualstructures and its relation to behavior. The area of motivation, andthe role of drives in ít, is analyzed in detall. Fixed action patterns, ímprinting,c1assical condítíoníng, operant conditíoníng, and other areas arepresented. Finally, the application of this research for human behavíor,is analyzed."
