The Wellbeing and Illbeing Dynamics in Ethiopia (WIDE) research focuses on twenty villages selected mainly in 1995 as exemplars of the different types of rural livelihoods identified then in the four ‘big Regions’ (see map 1). We document long-term change in these villages using data made in 1995 and 2003 and new fieldwork data made in 2010-2013.
