In this interview, Henry A. Giroux analyzes the complex relationship between pedagogy and the field of cultural studies through the prism of the often fabricated chasm between practice and theory/intellect. He also explains how the contemporary crisis in the role of intellectuals is a symptom of this chasm and analyzes their responsibility in matters of social justice, especially in an era of globalization. Finally, he makes reference to the role of youth in the context of the financial crisis.
