"Through an analysis of the justice systemactivity in the region of Rio das Mortes(Minas Gerais) throughout the ImperialState construction, we intend to clarifyits uses and significations for the population,highlighting its presence in theresolution of everyday conflicts amongthe various social strata. A discussion iscarried out on certain aspects of thebuilding of the State related to the continuousprocess of social order monopolizationand control, this being takenas a result of the State´s growing capacityto negotiate its parameters throughthe juridical processing."
