Résumé 0

In the context of the intellectual practices of the eighteenth century, this article takes up erudition – an individual competence in the domains of textual scholarship, criticism, and history – by examining correspondence, sociability, and academic institutions. The study of letters exchanged by members of the Accademia degli Arcadi demonstrates the existence of a variety of scholarly practices, ranging from the transmission of information to the revision of texts. Erudition is considered in a dynamic of interaction, relation, and communication.
