IntheSpanishcontext,ANECAmanagestheaccreditationofhigher-educationprofessors;inotherlatitudessimilarsituationsareexperienced.Thisresearcharticleisacontributiontothe reflection on the accreditation of professors regarding the communication of science, astudythatshowsColombianuniversity teacher-researchers’perceptionsontheissue.Thisisaqualitativestudythataddresses,ontheonehand,theanalysisoftheproductionoftheresearchgroupsoftheparticipatingpopulationand,ontheother,theexperienceoftheprofessorsbasedontestimonialaccounts,whichwereanalyzedthroughcontentanalysisusingAtlas-TIsoftware.Theparticularityofsciencecommunicationishighlightedasanecessarymechanismtomakescientific knowledge visible as well as some relevant tensions. Similarly, a balance on thedevelopmentofacademicaccreditationofColombian teachersismade,acategorization thatwasinitiallyregulatedbytheformerColciencias,whichnowadaysistheNationalMinistryofScience and Technology. Itis evidentin the study,on the one hand, the contribution of thedemandsintheincreaseofaccreditationandthedevelopmentofprofessorialresearchand,ontheother,theneedtogenerateotheracademicaccreditationpathwaysforprofessorsthatarebeyond the publication of articles in top magazines. Finally, it is relevant to highlight thedisagreementwiththecurrentpoliciesthatmeasurescientificproductivity,whichisshowninthecriticismofthefacultytothegrowingalignmentoftheUniversitytoneoliberalpolicies thatconfigurethemanagerialuniversity
