Gisela Cardoso Teixeira, « Journalism and literature in times of World War II: an analysis of texts by George Orwell and Rubem Braga », HAL-SHS : sciences de l'information, de la communication et des bibliothèques, ID : 10670/1.qifdtf
To describe a war, it is possible that the correspondent does not use exclusively the journalistic genre, especially when he does not belong only to this field. Therefore, this article aims to analyze the texts produced during World War II by correspondents George Orwell and Rubem Braga. More specifically, the constituent elements of two narratives by each author will be studied, taken from the books “Crônicas da Guerra na Itália” (Braga) and “Literatura e Política: Jornalismo em tempos de guerra” (Orwell), observing their similarities and differences in relation to the discursive strategies used to cover the war. Thus, it starts from the idea of enunciative aims, as well as the predominant genres in journalistic and literary discoursesas a strategy for capturing, in addition to showing a certain heterogeneity present in the coverage of war as a discourse.
