Frédéric Goulet et al., « Innovation systems and policies for the agricultural sector in Latin America: introductory elements », HAL-SHS : sociologie, ID : 10670/1.qj4561
Innovation is imposed as a key word in the public policies and actions of the States to accompany the agricultural sector. Science and technology institutions, as well as agricultural extension services, are convened to guide technological, economic and social transitions, and to generate, in interaction with various actors, the innovations that will enable them to respond to the great contemporary challenges. This book proposes a set of analyzes of these processes in the Latin American context, based on national case studies in nine countries in the region: Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Mexico, Nicaragua, Paraguay, and Uruguay. It includes a work of reflection on the role of international institutions such as FAO and IICA in defining the regional agenda on agricultural innovation, and the capacity of the private sector to transform forms of production and consumption. This collective work constitutes a contribution to think objectively about the historical trajectories, the current state and the challenges faced by agricultural innovation systems and policies in Latin America.
