Staat und Kirchen in Bayern. Bayern als Nation hat bis heute bestehen können dank der laizistischen Auffassung vom Staat ; auch in den Zeiten, wo es anscheinend «schwarz» wurde, blieb die Tradition bestehen. Diese Tradition soll nun hier untersucht werden. Als Schwerpunkte wurden drei Abschnitte der bayrischen Geschichte gewählt : der Kampf Ludwig des Bayern gegen die Kurie, das Lavieren des Kanzlers Leonhard von Eck zwischen den Gefahren von Reformation und Bauernkrieg, der Aufbau des modernen bayrischen Staates durch Montgelas, der zu den Illuminaten des Ingolstädter Juristen Weishaupt gezählt hat. Als Endergebnis kann festgehalten werden, daß Bayern mit dem laizistischen Staatsbewußtsein steht und fällt.

State and churches in Bavaria. Bavaria managed to survive as a nation untill now thanks to the laical idea of the State ; even in times when Bavaria seemed to become «black» (i.e. dye-hard Catholic), this tradition was upheld. This tradition is examined in my contribution. Three epochs of Bavarian history were chosen as the mainpoints : the fighting of Ludwig der Bayer against the Curia, the clever manoeuvering of Chancellor Leonhard von Eck amidst the perils of Reformation and Peasant War, the building of the modern Bavarian state by Montgelas - who belonged to the Illuminati of Adam Weishaupt the professor of law at Ingolstadt. Concluding it may be said that for Bavaria a laical state-consciousness was and remains essential for its very survival.
