A l’occasion d’une rencontre franco-cubaine en 2016 sur bioéthique et nouvelles biotechnologies, Anne Marie Moulin rappelle l’histoire longue et courte de l’éthique en médecine. Elle insiste sur la multiplication actuelle des textes de référence, émanant trop souvent exclusivement du monde occidental et anglophone, et sur le risque de bureaucratisation éloignée du terrain et d’abstraction faisant écran à la compréhension des pratiques locales diversifiées. Cuba a poursuivi sur ces sujets une réflexion méconnue en raison de l’embargo, très originale en raison des spécificités de son système de santé publique, comme la proximité entre le praticien et le malade, la coordination des prises en charge, et du souci aigu d’un raccourci entre recherche et applications bénéfiques. Ces orientations pourraient inspirer utilement les comités d’éthique français sur la recherche en partenariat et indiquent l’activation et la poursuite des échanges franco-cubains dans ce domaine.

Refounding Biomedical Ethics at the crossroads of Cuban and French experiencesA joint French-Cuban meeting on Biomedical Ethics and New Biotechnologies was held in 2016. Anne Marie Moulin recalls the ancient foundation of medical ethics and its recent history. She points to the multiplication of texts of reference, too often originated exclusively in the Western and English-speaking world, and expresses her anxiety facing the risk of an excessive bureaucratization of bioethics and the markedly formal character of the texts, marking a gap with the actual practices in the field. On these subjects Cuba has provided reflections largely ignored because of the embargo, original because of the specific features of its health system: the close patient-family doctor relationship, the coherence of the team responsible for the individual’s care, and overall the short path existing between discovery and applications. All these orientations foster new perspectives, which should be discussed further during future meetings and exchange between French and Cuban researchers.
