À travers l’analyse de deux exemples, celui du débat sur l’abolition du droit d’héritage au sein du Conseil général de l’Association internationale des travailleurs en 1869, et celui des directives adressées aux dirigeants de la social-démocratie allemande au sujet du ralliement d’individus issus de la classe dominante au mouvement prolétarien en 1879, cet article vise à rendre compte d’un type d’écriture propre à ce combat politique dans lequel Marx n’aura de cesse d’intervenir jusqu’à sa mort. Dans un cas comme dans l’autre, les interlocuteurs de Marx, qu’ils soient ou non des adversaires politiques, ne sont pas étrangers à un processus d’élaboration théorique que je désigne sous le nom de « travail de parti ».

Through the analysis of two examples, that of the debate in the General Council of the International Working Men’s Association on the abolition of the right of inheritance in 1869, and that of the guidelines for the leaders of the German Social Democracy on the rallying of individuals stemming from the ruling class to the proletarian movement in 1879, this article aims to account for a specific kind of writing, typical of the political struggle in which Marx will intervene constantly until his death. Either way, Marx’s interlocutors, whether they are political opponents or not, are not unconnected with a theoretical elaboration process which I call « working with a party ».
