Boris Eltsine est aujourd’hui une figure politique au regard du processus de démocratisation en Russie. Considéré comme un opposant au régime communiste, dont il est par ailleurs l’un des produits, il est perçu comme l’initiateur de la transition vers un régime démocratique en Russie. Par delà les jugements émis sur le sens de l’action politique de Boris Eltsine, nous voudrions, en soulignant ce que ces derniers doivent d’une part à un travail de production journalistique et d’autre part à une stratégie de présentation de soi poursuivie par Boris Eltsine lui-même, déterminer les conditions sociales d’émergence d’une figure politique d’homme providentiel. En ce sens il s’agira de mettre en évidence les caractéristiques d’une conjoncture de crise politique qui rendent possible l’avènement d’une figure providentielle en Russie dès 1989. Cette conjoncture se donne à voir sous deux aspects : une crise de l’instance dominante de la représentation politique en URSS, le PCUS, et une crise de l’instance de la représentation de l’État soviétique, l’URSS. Ces phénomènes sont selon nous la traduction politique d’une crise de la reproduction sociale des élites politiques en URSS.

Boris Eltsine is today a political figure taking into consideration process of democratization in Russia. Regarded as an opponent with the communist mode, of which it is in addition one of the products, it is perceived like the initiator of the transition towards a democratic mode in Russia. Across the judgments put forth on the direction of the political action of Boris Eltsine, we would like, by underlining what the latter owe on the one hand with a work of journalistic production and on the other hand to a strategy of presentation of oneself continued by Boris Eltsine itself, to determine the social conditions of emergence of a political figure of providential man. In this direction it will be a question of highlighting the characteristics of a political situation of crisis which make possible the advent of a providential figure to Russia since 1989. This political situation is given to see under two aspects: a crisis of the dominant authority of the political representation in the USSR, the PCUS, and a crisis of the authority of the representation of the Soviet State, the USSR. These phenomena are according to us the political translation of a crisis of the social reproduction of the political elites in the USSR.
