Not exactly, according to Nicolas Hubert, according to whom the camps were included, as part of a whole, in the denunciation of the war.

Si le « camp » apparaît bien dans la littérature anticolonialiste des années de la guerre d’Algérie, y compris en référence aux camps de la Seconde Guerre mondiale, la spécificité des camps d’internement n’était pas perçue par les contemporains. Réalité mal connue, donc, mais négligée aussi au profit de la dénonciation de la torture ?
