Democratic transition…Burma (Myanmar) is undergoing unprecedented changes that began some months after the November 2010 parliamentary elections, and is now preparing for a new vote scheduled for 2015. The country is, of course, no longer a junta-ruled dictatorship, even if the members of both parliament and government, whether elected or appointed, belong to the army (to whom the constitution grants 25 % of the seats) or are former military officers or were close to the former regime.
